Who is Soul?
Soul is the protagonist — the youngest "Will" of The Order, framed for murdering its patriarch and left with 66 days to live. Jay Maksenuk provides the English voice; Yucheng is the face and motion-capture performer.

Donnie Yen. He's been the creative consultant since 2023, shaping the combat design, and he performs the facial and motion capture for Mó Yuan — Soul's father, revealed in the Aug 11 pre-order trailer. S-GAME has confirmed the headline names — Soul's English voice, Mó Yuan's three-layer performance — but the full credits list is expected to arrive at launch, when the game ships with a complete cast roll. Donnie Yen's role
Donnie Yen has been creative consultant for Phantom Blade Zero since 2023, shaping the combat design, and he performs the facial and motion capture for Mó Yuan — Soul's father, revealed in the Aug 11 pre-order trailer. On top of the capture work, he recorded the English voice for the character himself, and the studio brought in Chen Hao for the Mandarin performance.
Jay Maksenuk (Soul's English voice)
Jay Maksenuk is the most-searched name in the cast: he provides Soul's English voice. Soul's face and full-body motion capture come from Yucheng, a Shanghai-based model — S-GAME used real fight-intensity capture, so Yucheng's physical performance directly drives Soul's animations. Soul's two fighting styles are Infernal Blade (fire) and Dark Raider (darkness), and his personal weapon is the Sanguine.
Soul as a character: the youngest person to hold the rank of "Will" inside The Order, and the youngest son of the Dark Castle of Mó, raised mainly by his adoptive father Mu Tianmiao. When the patriarch is murdered, Soul is framed, executed badly enough to survive, and handed a mechanical heart that gives him 66 days. That countdown is the premise of the whole game, and it is also the name of the hardest difficulty.
Who is Soulframe Liang?
Soulframe Liang (梁其伟) is the creator, director and CEO of S-GAME, and he is the person who introduces the game himself in the August 17 State of Play ("I'm Soulframe, the creator and director of Phantom Blade Zero"). If you searched for Soulframe after watching the deep dive: he is the studio's founder, not a character in the game, and he has described the tone as a Chinese version of John Wick — the best killer in an organisation is cast out, and everyone he used to work with is either hunting him or waiting for him to die.
Language & dubbing support
Full voice audio in Phantom Blade Zero is English and Simplified Chinese only. Japanese, Korean and other languages get interface and subtitles — there is no Japanese full dub announced, which answers the recurring 吹き替え / Japanese dubbing searches.
One practical consequence: if you play with Japanese subtitles, the audio you hear will be English or Mandarin. There has been no announcement of a Japanese voice track or of dual-audio options beyond the two full-voice languages.
