Physical Release

Will Phantom Blade Zero Get a Physical Release? (2026)

Digital-only so far, and that is a decision nobody has reversed yet. PS5 pre-orders opened August 11 with no disc version, S-GAME has not announced a physical edition for any region, and the only boxed signal anywhere is a China-market collector's entry that was marked sold out.

The short answer

No physical edition of Phantom Blade Zero has been announced — for any region.PS5 pre-orders opened on August 11, 2026 as digital-only, the 20-minute State of Play on August 17 was a gameplay deep dive with no disc announcement, and no retailer listing for a boxed copy exists at the time of writing. If you are holding out for a disc, the honest position is: not announced, and not guaranteed to ever exist.

This page tracks the physical-release question specifically. It is updated whenever S-GAME, Sony or a retailer says anything concrete, and it separates confirmed information from signals and rumours.

The three confirmed stores are the ones named in S-GAME's own pre-order announcement. Everything outside that list — including a boxed version and any Xbox release — is unannounced rather than cancelled.

What the collector's edition signal means

There is no global collector's edition. What exists is narrower than that: the Chinese official site has shown a collector's pre-order entry marked as sold out. That points to a China-market edition rather than a worldwide one, and it has not been detailed or confirmed for other regions.

Treat it as a signal, not an answer. If a regional collector's edition exists, it is the most likely reason a boxed version ever appears — and the most likely thing to stay inside its home market.

Why a physical release is not a given

Two things have to line up for a disc to happen, and neither is under a player's control:

  • Someone has to publish it. The game is self-published by S-GAME on PS5 and PC. A boxed release needs a retail publisher or a distribution deal, and those are usually announced two to four months before launch — not after it.
  • The announcement would have to be unusually late. Pre-orders have been live since August 11 and the game arrives October 29, 2026. A disc version appearing after launch day is possible, but it would be a re-release, not a launch product.

The flip side is that nothing has been ruled out either. S-GAME has simply refused to discuss the topic, and the State of Play did not address it.

If you want a disc, do this

  • Do not pre-order digital and hope to switch. Pre-orders exist for a reason: if a physical edition is announced, you would cancel and buy the disc instead. Both PlayStation Store and Steam allow cancelled pre-orders before release under their published refund policies.
  • Watch retailers, not storefronts. A boxed copy appears as a product listing at a retailer (Amazon, GameStop, regional chains) long before it appears as a storefront SKU.
  • Check the region. If a China-market edition is the only one that exists, importing it usually means a Chinese-language box, region-appropriate distribution and no local warranty.
  • Know your PS5. The disc-less PS5 Digital Edition cannot play a disc even if one is released. If physical media matters to you, that decision is made by the console you own, not by the game.

What would change this page

Any of these would be reported here on the same day: a retailer listing appearing, a publisher announcement, a new trailer carrying a physical edition, or an official statement that no disc release is planned. Until one of them happens, "not announced" is the accurate answer — and it is a different thing from "no".

Physical release questions

Will Phantom Blade Zero have a physical release?

Not announced. PS5 pre-orders are digital-only, the August 17 State of Play did not announce a disc version, and no retailer lists a boxed copy. That is 'not announced', not 'confirmed impossible'.

Is Phantom Blade Zero digital only?

Every confirmed version is digital: PlayStation Store for PS5, Steam and Epic Games Store for PC. No disc edition exists in any region so far.

Is Phantom Blade Zero getting a physical release later?

Nothing is planned publicly. A disc release would need a retail publisher or distribution deal, and those are normally announced months before launch — not after it.

Will there be a collector's edition?

No global collector's edition has been announced. The Chinese official site showed a collector's pre-order entry marked sold out, which suggests a China-only edition. No other region has one.

Should I wait for a physical copy?

Only if a disc is genuinely important to you. If a physical edition is announced, you can cancel a digital pre-order before release under the PlayStation Store and Steam refund policies and buy the disc instead.

Can I play a disc on a PS5 Digital Edition?

No. The disc-less PS5 cannot read any disc, so a physical edition would be useless on that console. Your console model decides this, not the game.

Where would a physical edition be sold?

At retailers rather than storefronts — Amazon, GameStop and regional chains. A boxed release shows up as a retail product listing before it ever appears as a store SKU.

Does the physical version come with anything extra?

Unknown, because the edition does not exist. The digital Deluxe edition is the only bundle with extra content so far: $69.99 against $59.99 for Standard.
